Emergency Management certificate program trains you to respond swiftly and effectively to a wide range of emergencies: from pandemics to terrorist attacks, to natural and man-made disasters.

Through this program you’ll learn to implement comprehensive disaster plans to:

• Prevent
• Mitigate
• Prepare
• Respond
• Recover

This emergency management training is beneficial for both current practitioners and those new to the field of emergency management. The program includes both presentation of theory and hands-on assignments to develop specific knowledge and skills. Classes include:

• Taking part in large-scale emergency exercises
• Field trips to emergency responder agencies
• Analyzing emergency situations and developing emergency plans
• Designing emergency exercises
• Problem-based learning and case studies
• Practice dealing with the media, including writing press releases

• Postsecondary diploma or degree

and/or

• Demonstrated competence through related work and/or educational experience

Individuals with extensive work-related experience will be considered on an individual basis and required to submit a portfolio for assessment.

Applicant Selection

Eligible applicants will be selected on the basis of demonstrated competence through related work and/or educational experience.

Applicants who do not meet the admission requirements for this program will be assessed and advised individually and may be considered for other, related programs.
