Duration: 1 Year
Program information
Enterprise Database Management one-year graduate certificate program offers a fast track to employment in one of the hottest fields in computing. In just eight months of study you’ll gain highly marketable skills while receiving top-notch preparation for internationally accredited Oracle and IBM database management certification exams, including:
- OCA: Oracle Certified Associate
- OCP: Oracle Certified Professional
- IBM: Certified Database Associate
Using the most current industry-standard software and hardware in enterprise database management, you’ll learn to design, install, configure, manage, and customize enterprise database systems that support critical functions such as transaction processing and strategic decision making. The curriculum covers security, programming, data modeling and an introduction to Java. The entire second term is devoted to Oracle enterprise database management and administration.
Advancement Opportunities for Professionals
Enterprise Database Management students with a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible to apply for paid work placements, in which they can earn income and gain professional experience and contacts while advancing their education.
To accommodate the needs of working professionals, Sheridan offers Enterprise Database Management courses evenings and Saturdays, combining in-class and online delivery. Onsite courses take place in a state-of-the-art computer lab; students are required to have the use of a computer outside of class hours for the online portion of the program.
Mobile Classroom
The Enterprise Database Management Program uses laptop computers for in-class work and home assignments. All course materials are Web-supported, with materials available to you 24/7 through your laptop and the Internet. Your learning opportunities will be greatly enhanced by having increased access to the Internet, learning resources and your classmates.
Career Opportunities
In this day and age, nearly all business functions rely on database management, so advanced skills in this field are extremely marketable. Studies have shown that there is a shortage of trained personnel in the database field and that this shortage is likely to continue in the future.
After completing the Enterprise Database Management Program, you’ll be ready to join large organizations in entry-level positions such as database applications programmer or database administrator, or to work for smaller enterprises as the sole database support professional.
