 Program Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of the Facial Skincare Diploma program, students will be able to:

  1. **Anatomical and Physiological Knowledge**: Understand the structure, functions, and conditions of the human skin and facial muscles.
  2. **Skincare Techniques**: Demonstrate proficiency in various facial treatments, massage techniques, and advanced skincare procedures.
  3. **Product Knowledge**: Identify and apply a range of skincare products appropriate for different skin types and conditions.
  4. **Hygiene and Safety**: Adhere to industry-standard hygiene and safety protocols, ensuring the health and safety of both clients and practitioners.
  5. **Client Consultation**: Conduct thorough client consultations, recognizing skin conditions, and recommending appropriate treatments or products.
  6. **Business Acumen**: Understand the foundational principles of managing and marketing a skincare business, including client retention and service up-selling.

 

Program Goals:

  1. **Comprehensive Coverage**: To provide students with a holistic understanding of facial skincare, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills.
  2. **Industry-Relevance**: Ensure that the curriculum remains updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  3. **Ethical Practice**: Instill ethical considerations in skincare, emphasizing the importance of natural, cruelty-free, and sustainable products and practices.
  4. **Cultural Competence**: Equip students to serve diverse populations, recognizing and respecting cultural skincare traditions and practices.

 

Possible Career Options:

– **Licensed Esthetician**: Provide facial treatments, skincare consultations, and product recommendations in salons, spas, or independent practice.

– **Skincare Product Developer**: Collaborate with cosmetic companies in creating, testing, and marketing new skincare products.

– **Dermatology Assistant**: Work alongside dermatologists, providing assistance with treatments and patient consultations.

– **Beauty Blogger/Vlogger**: Review and recommend skincare products and techniques to a wide audience via blogging or video platforms.

– **Sales Representative**: Represent skincare brands, educating retailers and customers about product benefits and usage.

 

Program Curriculum:

**Year 1**:

  1. **Introduction to Skincare**: Basics of skincare, skin anatomy, and physiology.
  2. **Skincare Products and Ingredients**: Study of various products, their ingredients, benefits, and application methods.
  3. **Basic Facial Techniques**: Cleansing, exfoliating, massaging, and moisturizing.
  4. **Skin Analysis**: Methods to analyze different skin types and conditions.

 

**Year 2**:

  1. **Advanced Facial Treatments**: Specialized treatments for various skin concerns like aging, acne, pigmentation, etc.
  2. **Skincare Equipment and Technology**: Introduction to modern skincare tools and machines.
  3. **Business Management**: Basics of managing a skincare business, marketing, and client relations.
  4. **Ethics in Skincare**: Understanding the ethical implications and considerations in the skincare industry.

 

Entry Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Letter of intent or personal essay detailing the applicant’s interest in the program.
  3. Two recommendation letters – one professional and one academic.
  4. Basic understanding of the English language (for non-native speakers, a TOEFL or IELTS score may be required).
